HVAC technicians work on the systems that control the temperature, humidity, and quality of the air in our homes, workplaces, and all other types of buildings. To become an HVAC technician, you will need to work as an apprentice under a licensed technician for up to 2,000 hours. Apprenticeships are competitive and this formal training and a “work ready” certificate significantly improves your chances of success. Most technicians start as assistants, and progress to an apprentice, to ultimately become a fully certified HVAC technician.
